Sandy Gow receiving her Diploma in Equalities.
Congratulations to Sandy Gow, our Equalities Officer, Treasurer and Children, Schools and Families Convenor for achieving her TUC Diploma in Equalities. Here she is pictured (second from right) with the rest of her course participants receiving their certificates from none other than Jeremy Corbyn - leader of the Labour Party.
TUC Diploma in Equalities - online course
The course is designed specifically for experienced trade union representatives whose role would benefit from a wider understanding of equality issues. The course is delivered over 36 weeks spread over three terms.
The Diploma is accredited by the National Open College Network and is divided into several units - three core units and four study skills units - see below.
- Equality and the law
- Working for equality
- Study Skills Units
- Communication & Study Skills
- Legal skills
- Information Communication Technology
- Research Project
My course was run by a tutor from Sussex Downs College. I found that I didn’t have the time to attend the classroom sessions at the Light Project International near Kings Cross Station, so did most of my course on-line, but found the tutor very supportive and happy to accommodate the way I wanted to study.
